DataSure Westcoastcloud and DataCore have partnered to offer a unique hosted Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery solution.

DataSure combines DataCore’s high performance SAN virtualisation technology with Westcoastcloud’s award winning UK infrastructure to deliver a high performance offsite disaster recovery solution. The solution allows end users to easily replicate their business critical data to one of Westcoastcloud’s five fully secure and resilient data centres across the UK. The entire platform is built for scalability and flexibility, enabling clients to purchase storage on a pay as you grow basis. The service is vendor and hardware agnostic allowing the ability to secure data from multiple storage vendors onto the Westcoastcloud platform.

DataSure is built using market leading technology from Cisco, EMC, and Datacore providing optimal performance combined with Westcoastcloud’s 100% uptime guarantee.

How does DataSure differ to traditional storage models?

Traditional SAN to SAN replication typically involves the purchase of a second SAN from the primary Vendor. This SAN invariably consists of a secondary duplicate SAN with a similar drive configuration as the primary SAN. Vendor Dependant Replication software is then used to replicate the data across a WAN. Both SAN’s will first be configured at the primary location, with replication undertaken across a LAN ñ the second SAN is then shipped and installed at a second location.

Whilst effective, this method incurs high capital expenditure, increased management, vendor tie in and limited service management and development opportunity.

With DataSure a SANmelody node is installed in front of the target SAN this node is then configured to replicate data directly to the Westcoastcloud storage infrastructure. All data replicated is then written to two separate disk arrays and if required can be replicated again to a second Datacentre where it is again written twice.
